Milk thistle and turmeric are traditionally used to support the detoxifying capacity of the liver in Western herbal medicine, and Schisandra is traditionally used for this purpose in Chinese Medicine. Turmeric has been traditionally used to increase bile flow in Ayurvedic medicine.
